Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Plan the room and schedule early

Complete any required room and shielding planning before construction. Outside New York City, contact the state Bureau of Environmental Radiation Protection at least two weeks before the first day of operation.

Provide the business name, RSO, address, phone, county, federal tax ID, equipment type and count, and planned first-use date.

Step 4: Complete the application the bureau sends

Fill in every requested facility and machine field. Return it with any requested room, shielding, installer, or equipment documents.

Step 5: Pay the bill and keep registration current

New York charges a $50 annual base fee plus modality fees. Registrations renew every two years, while billing occurs annually.
